The need for Bridges

I love these prompts.  It is easy to overlook all of the meanings a word might have until I am prompted with one to use in a certain way.  Then, after my gut reaction to the word, I begin to think about its meaning.  I had forgotten how many definitions Bridge has.  As touched on, I usually tackle the Daily Prompts with the first thing that comes to mind when I see it, and so it is with this that I will start my post.

My first thoughts centred around the many gaps in our lives that so desperately need bridging.

The gaps are all around us if we look closely enough.  Relationship gaps between neighbour and neighbour, husbands and wives, rich and poor, black and white, city versus city, nation to nation, one religion versus another, man against woman and each against the other, politician against politician the list goes on and on.  It amazes me the world manages to function at all!

The gaps are all around us if we look closely enough and each one of us could be the bridge to close them if we’re brave enough to step out.  Individually we may not change the whole world, but to one individual we could make the world of difference.  Mediate for someone.  Bring peace to a situation for someone.  Bridge the gap for someone.  Change the world for someone.

And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness. (James 3:18)

I needed to get that off my chest.

Now, let’s lighten the mood a little. The other types of bridges that sprang to mind were, the obvious one, of course, a Bridge

How amazing is that house in a bridge

Then there is a musical Bridge. I am not a musician myself, but this is used to support the strings.

That piece between the lenses on a pair of glasses is called a Bridge, as is the enclosed area above the main deck of a ship.

Bridge is a card game.

There are many more bridges to share, but I am going to close with this one, mainly because I love the character, and it’s the Bridge of a nose (but don’t be a Pinocchio).

May you be blessed and be someone’s wonderful, unexpected blessing.  Know peace x
