A New Season

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:”

Well hello!

It’s been a long time since I last posted on here so there’s lots to catch up on, but I will do this is small chunks for fear of boring the pants off you 😉

I’m kicking off with the start of the new academic year for university students.  A new season stretches before us and for some it will be a brand new experience coming back into education.  If this is you, don’t be scared.  Don’t be put off.  Don’t feel inadequate.  You CAN DO THIS!  If you’re embarking on your next module, all of the above applies though you have the benefit of knowing how it works now so I hope you’re raring to go!

I’m about to start on the second level 1 module of my Psychology Degree, ‘Understanding Social Lives’ and this time round I’m really excited about getting stuck in.  As you may remember from posts last year, I was often right on the wire with my assignments, struggled with managing my time and, the old favourite, procrastinated as if going for Gold in the Olympics! 😳

So, what’s going to be different this year?  Quite a bit but the single biggest difference is that I’ve been quite brutal in stepping down from things I was involved with – I was doing too much.  Now I will be able to evenly distribute my time between work, study, voluntary work, family and hobbies and it’s amazing the difference this makes to the mind-set too.  I know not everyone is able to minimise their workload but honestly,  look at your commitments and, if you can, give up just one thing to make your life easier (your whole life, not just for study time) then I urge you to do it.  Life is far too short and although I want to do the things I’m doing, over and above all and any of it, I want to enjoy the time I have with my family and friends – we don’t enjoy it if we’re stressed and/or worn out.

To be fair, by doing the above, the rest (I hope!) falls into place.   I’m determined to stay on track this year and this is going to be easier to do, I’m going to enjoy it because I’m less busy/stressed and I’m totally motivated.  However, I’m also a realist and I know my weaknesses so, the one possible pitfall is the procrastination.  This is likely to be a harder task than I’m trying to imagine, but I’m going to give it a shot 😉

From today I’m aiming to post at least once a week so for now…

For those studying – best of luck.  For those who have already graduated – congratulations!  And for those who are not sure what their next step is – take your time, relax and then follow your dream.

May you know peace in lives and keep love in your hearts 💜
